There are many benefits to rolling out the mat and practicing yoga, including reduce stress, lower blood pressure, reduce fatigue, reduce asthma, improve circulation and… boost the immune system which is very important right now, with many countries still trying to flat the curve of the Covid-19 and when we are also getting into the influenza season.
According to various medical researchers, it has been found that 90 percent of illnesses and diseases, arising from a depressed immune system, are stress related. Yoga decreases the level of this stress hormone in the blood, which means…
More yoga = less stress = less illnesses and diseases.
“Yoga is unlike other forms of exercise that focus only on certain parts of the body,” says Kathleen Fry, M.D., president of the American Holistic Medicine Association in Scottsdale, Arizona. “Yoga works on everything.”
We have no doubt. We have seen people from different ages groups become healthier by practicing a discipline that has benefits for all. From seniors and people with disability, who may practice chair yoga, to the most adventurous who may enjoy Acro yoga.
But let’s see what the science says:
The Journal of Behavioral Medicine reviewed 15 randomized controlled trials that examined whether the regular practice of yoga postures could strengthen the immune system and reduce chronic inflammation.
As stayed by Psychology Today, scientists in these yoga trials examined the immune system response by measuring blood or saliva levels of circulating pro-inflammatory markers such as cytokines, a protein called C-reactive protein (CRP), as well as immune cell counts, antibodies, and markers of gene expression in immune cells.
And as you know, inflammation is an immune response.
More yoga = Less Inflammation = Less Stress
